Eligibility & Entry Requirements

To apply as a transfer student, you will need to provide the following documents and meet the basic conditions:

  • Official university transcript(s) for all completed coursework certified by the Ministry of Education & Higher Education (MEHE), along with course descriptions/syllabi signed by your current/previous university for equivalency review.
  • Valid high school credential (Lebanese Baccalaureate or recognized equivalent) as required for undergraduate admissions.
  • Program-specific criteria for your intended major (language proficiency, subject prerequisites, etc.).
Admission decisions are studied by the Equivalence Committee on a case-by-case basis, taking into account your academic background and program requirements.

Credit Transfer & Residency Requirements

Here’s how previously earned credits may apply at LGU:

  • Courses successfully completed at recognized institutions may be transferred if equivalent in content, level, credit weight, and grade.
  • Transferred credits do not affect the LGU GPA; when approved, they are recorded as “credit earned.”
  • To graduate from LGU, you must complete at least 50% of your degree credits at LGU (residency requirement).
  • Some majors may limit transfer of core/major courses unless covered by specific agreements.

Placement & Prerequisites

Placement tests and prerequisites help confirm readiness for your program:

  • Transfer applicants may still be required to take LGU’s placement tests in English or French if no valid standardized test scores are submitted.
  • Depending on the chosen major, specialized placement tests may also be required, such as mathematics for Biomedical Sciences or creativity assessments for Performing Arts.
  • Applicants from the French or International Baccalaureate track (or equivalent) should review the Subject Requirements section for specific prerequisites by major.

Transfers from TS (Senior Technician) Programs

LGU admits students who have successfully completed TS programs at recognized technical institutions in Lebanon:

  • Eligibility typically requires an official TS2 average of 12/20 or higher.
  • Case-by-case evaluation based on your major and the compatibility between TS curricula and LGU program requirements.
  • Equivalencies may be granted after reviewing official transcripts and course content.
  • Updated CV required: While the CV does not grant academic credit, it supports the study of your file by highlighting relevant academic, technical, and practical experience.
  • You may be assigned bridging/remedial courses to meet LGU’s undergraduate standards.
  • The 50% LGU residency requirement applies to all transfers.

Application Process & Deadlines

Here are the steps to follow to complete your transfer application:

  • Submit your transfer application by the deadlines published on the Admissions Key Dates page.
    View Key Dates
  • The Admissions Office may request an interview or evaluation meeting as part of the process.
  • Upon admission, you will receive a credit evaluation report indicating which of your completed courses have been accepted at LGU.

Undergraduate Transfer Application – Checklist

Before you begin your online application as a transfer student, make sure you're well-prepared by reviewing this checklist of essential information and documents you’ll need to complete and successfully submit your application.

  • Know your deadlines by checking the key dates on LGU website.
  • Choose up to 3 intended majors and the language of instruction (English or French). Explore LGU’s majors across our three faculties. Check full list of majors
  • Prepare certified official transcripts (MEHE-certified) and signed course descriptions/syllabi from your current/previous institution for credit evaluation.
Make sure you meet the admission requirements for your chosen major, including any subject prerequisites (see the Entry Requirements section).
  • Write a motivation letter explaining your academic goals and reasons for transferring to LGU.
  • For TS (Technicien Supérieur) applicants: attach an updated CV to support the evaluation of your file. Although a CV does not factor into the formal academic transfer credit evaluation, it provides valuable context by highlighting your academic, technical, and practical experience, which helps the Admissions team better understand your background.

  • Submit original documents by post or by hand. You can check the list of required documents here: Application Checklist
