In collaboration with the Order of Physiotherapists in Lebanon (OPTL), the Physical Therapy Department at the Lebanese German University (LGU) organized a seminar entitled “Les PRP (Plasma Riche en Plaquettes) dans les pathologies articulaires et tendineuses” on Saturday June 1st, 2019.
Over eighty participants, mainly professional physical therapists as well as students, attended the seminar in the presence of Professor Samir Matar, LGU President; Dr. Paul Makhlouf, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health; Ms. Riwa Khalife, Vice-Dean to the Faculty of Public Health; and guests from the Red Cross International Committee.
Keynote speakers highlighted the traditional technique of Platelet-Rich Plasma preparation. Novelties in the field were introduced by Arthroleb. Subsequent presentations discussed the indications, contraindications, and effectiveness of PRP for a myriad of musculoskeletal conditions. The use of PRP injections with rehabilitation programs was also debated and evidence showed that recovery is enhanced by combining both techniques.
During the coffee break, participants celebrated the birthday of Dr. Tanios Abboud, President of OPTL, who praised everyone, especially Dr. Saydeh Sassine, Head of the Physical Therapy Department, for the success of the event.
At the end of the seminar, certificates of attendance were distributed to all participants who expressed their great interest in the topic.
