The Lebanese German University – LGU students of The Department of Marketing at the Faculty of Business and Insurance concluded the academic year with their first summer festival in order to promote summer products to visitors while emphasizing the different methods used in the marketing process leading to the eventual selling of the products.All day long, the Department looked like a beehive with students rushing to put on the last touches to the festival that was entitled Summer Fest. In fact, thirty students, divided into various groups, rushed to finalize their stands. Every project presented a certain brand ranging from fizzy and alcoholic beverages to summer clothes, diving and rock climbing equipment as well as cosmetics and various beauty products.
Mr. Naji Sfeir, director of the project and instructor of the marketing courses at LGU, said, “The aim of the festival is to help students put into practice the theoretical notions learned during class and to encourage them to work within a team”.
During the festival, the marine rescue team of the Civil Defense presented a simulation of a rescue attempt that was applauded by the guests. On the other hand, members of the Red Cross explained their role within the Lebanese community and the various methods adopted to successfully perform their numerous daily missions all over the Lebanese territory.
Moreover, a group of students presented dance scenes and a fashion show designed by Mrs. Racquelle Sokhn. At the end of the festival, the students’ skills regarding their ability to promote a product and their use of various resources available for such purpose as well as their ability to make presentations relating to their promotional activities were assessed by a jury of experts in marketing.
