The Nutrition & Dietetics Department at the Faculty of Public Health organized a conference entitled “Osteoporosis – Knowledge Leads to Prevention” on Thursday 31st January, 2013.

Many women guests and LGU students attended the conference that was presented by Mrs. Lea Tabet Jamal, a senior LGU student and a physical therapist. A comprehensive definition of osteoporosis was made, along with a detailed explanation of the causes of the illness and preventive measures to be taken. Statistics based on a survey carried out previously were analyzed in order to raise awareness of the illness in Lebanon in general and the small Kesrwan community in particular.

Mrs. Jammal then answered various questions and inquiries made by the women attending the conference. At the end, every guest was handed in a bag of various dairy products offered by Khoury Dairy.
