In line with its non academic activities undertaken throughout the year and for the fifth year running, the Lebanese German University organized its 2012 Christmas event at LGU Campus on December 19, 2012. Over 115 children aged 5 to 10 were invited to celebrate the occasion. The children came from three regional boarding schools to take part in the different activities prepared for them by the administrative staff and LGU students.
The event started with a historical account of the nativity related by Father Johnny Rahi in a slide show. The children then spent over four hours enjoying Christmas songs played by a DJ, while Mr. Pierre Sarkis brought in his own repertoire of Christmas tunes that he played on the guitar, with the children singing along. Among the activities were some face painting and various games prepared for the children by students in the Preschool and Primary Education Department. The children also enjoyed dancing with Hello Kitty, Barnie, Schtroumpf and Mickey before welcoming Father Santa for gift distribution. Lunch was also catered for by Mc Donald’s that offered every child a lunchbox. Throughout the celebration, pictures were taken for the children with Santa Claus and the various characters.
LGU administration and staff were later congratulated on the success of the event and also praised for making Christmas an occasion to instill a spirit of compassion among its students towards the less fortunate.
